Sea Turtle Season

April 1, 2022 - October 31, 2022

Sea Turtle season is officially here! Multiple city departments are collaborating to help protect our favorite marine friends. The community is encouraged to reduce the impacts on sea turtles by switching to sea turtle-friendly lighting, closing blinds or curtains at night, and keeping a distance from sea turtles and their nests. www.mbrisingabove.com/seaturtles

Community Tree Giveaway *Registration required*

April 4, 2022

In preparation for Arbor Day, the City will host a tree giveaway event. Registration for this event will be launched on this day. The first 100 residents that register will be eligible to have a tree personally delivered to their home by the Urban Forestry Division. Deliveries will be carried out the last week of the month and tree options will include multiple native fruit and flowering trees. Registration: https://ww.mbrisingabove.com/trees

BE305 Kickoff

The BE305 (Building Efficiency 305) program is kicking off its second cohort. BE305 is a free, voluntary program focused on increasing energy and water efficiency in large buildings across the County. Properties that register for the BE305 program will receive guidance and educational resources through the process of benchmarking their energy and water consumption and can participate in trainings with tips on low-cost to no-cost measures to reduce energy and water consumption. Fieldwork: Tours, presented by Misael Soto

Fieldwork is a series of programming created by local artist, Misael Soto. Misael’s goal is to spark dialogue between participants and the environment. Each Fieldwork provides insight into a location’s history and its place in our contemporary community. Solar Co-op Launch

April 13, 2022

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will lead the launch of the new solar co-op for homeowners and small businesses across the County. Earth Day at Miami Beach Botanical Garden

Baynanza 2022

As part of the 40th anniversary of Baynanza, Miami-Dade County will be engaging thousands of community volunteers at various locations throughout the county in cleaning approximately 25 sites along Biscayne Bay’s shorelines and islands, including Maurice Gibb Park, Flagler Memorial Island (Monument Island), and the Julia Tuttle Causeway. Baynanza cleanup day registration is now closed. Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony & Proclamation

Miami Beach will celebrate Arbor Day with a proclamation and through the planting of several trees in Pine Tree Park. This ceremony will promote the importance of the urban forest and will re-qualify the city to receive the Tree City USA designation.
