Green Infrastructure

Green infrastructure is the concept of incorporating both the natural environment and engineered elements into a wide array of functions or projects. This can range from green roofs to living shorelines and even bioswales. The benefits of green infrastructure include conserving ecosystem values and services, beautifying communities, reducing heat islands effects, and promoting environmental stewardship. Miami Beach, like many other cities, faces the impacts of sea level rise, climate change, and a growing population which results in an increasing demand for resources. Green infrastructure is not about a particular aesthetic or style but is based on the simple concept of reducing waste and using resources efficiently.
